Therapy-in-Motion

Through dance, we gain new insights into the mystery of our lives. When brought forth from the inside and forged by the desire to create personal change, dance has the profound power to heal the body, psyche and soul.

All our experiences, stories, habits and emotions are stored in the body and in our movement patterns.

Therapy-in-Motion is a somatic-oriented experience, using movement and nonverbal body language to help access and work with core issues. We work indivually in an alive and awake relational field of witnessing. Using dance, movement and inquiry to tap into the wisdom of our bodies.

The first step in the process is openness and curiosity.

In a session we

– listen and track the sensations and impulses of the body

– use the wisdom of your own physical experience

– move from the cognitive into embodied movement explorations

– use specific tools to facilitate the inner movements to become more conscious and integrated

– expand insights and resource through the body

What is Therapy in Motion?

Therapy in Motion is a dynamic methodology that integrates leading psychological concepts into an embodied movement vocabulary. The theoretical grounding of  Therapy in Motion includes attachment theory, relational psychoanalysis, trauma studies, theories of sexuality, gestalt awareness practice, the understanding of multiple self‐states, and transpersonal approaches.

It is scientifically proven that emotional intelligence, stability and resilience are dependent upon, and reflective of, being present in the moment and embodied. Evidence‐based embodied therapeutic practices demonstrate that the ability to tolerate strong emotions without dissociating are key to good mental health. Additionally, embodied emotional intelligence is vital for profound, lasting spiritual development.
